The Self-Deprecating Lookaway Laugh! The Ice Grill! It’s indicative of the combination of reverence and execution that made Pro Era’s 2012 such a rousing success: Joey Bada$$ established himself as the crew’s breakout star, with Capital STEEZ not far behind, while Pro Era rocked high-profile industry showcases, got Hot 97 and MTV2 airplay, and enjoyed perhaps the least backlash of any ground-up hip-hop rise in recent memory.
