Mr. Dibbs received significant notoriety outside of his midwestern territory when his solo mixtape, Turntable Scientifics, was released on cassette in 1995 by Four Ways to Rock. Hailed as the most vital mixtape since Q-Bert’s Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze Muzik, Turntable Scientifics upped the Hobo mission another notch by creating a more seamless work out of even more unlikely sources. Classic rock, rare grooves, Scooby Doo, Fishbone and Woodstock all made appearances on tape. The most humorous moment would not come from one of Dibbs’ patented prank calls, but from the juxtaposing of Nirvana’s “Lithium” with a shotgun blast.
