Born Patrick Marcelin to Haitian immigrant parents and growing up at a time when being Haitian in New York wasn’t popular and was almost intrinsically associated with refugees and HIV/AIDS.
Mecca (a.k.a. Grimo) having been raised in Brooklyn and later in Queens before relocating to Miami with his parents at the age of 17. He worked with a lot of artists like Wyclef Jean, CaRiMi, Lil Kim, Nu Look, Sweet Micky or Luke Campbell of the 2 Live Crew.
