Industry Standard started with two main members, Denetics an M.C. out of Jersey City and Profound, a Producer D.J. from Seattle. The two met at school in Massachusettes in 1993 and formed the group then known as Third Degree. They recorded an e.p. on a 4-track and sold about three thousand copies in under a month. Interest from small labels surfaced but the group decided to remain independent and avoid the bullshit of the industry. While the e.p. was well received by fans, the group knew that they were capable of much better material, and realized with it they could make a lot of noise in the underground. Thus they began too create an album with consistency of lyrics and beats and orginality in mind. The entire album is produced by Profound and his partner Meckaneck. Vocals are arranged in part by Denetics with appearances from Jamaan and Kenya aka Kado representing Seattle Washington, and Genesis out of Fresno California. The group will release two twelve inches singles in early april The first being Kennetical Movements b/w Iamaini, followed by the album titled Counterfeit Industry a couple weeks later.
