With “Shawn” Fourtie delivers a track that I think should be described as a hardcore version of Apache’s “Gangsta Bitch”. Fourtie tells about his former girlfriend Shawn, who he claims “wasn’t no gangsta bitch, but was psycho with a trigger finger itch” and “liked to play with razors and knifes”. In a storytelling mode reminiscent of Kool G. Rap and Slick Rick in their prime, Fourtie verbally paints a vivid picture of his “deals with the devil”. The b-side joint “3,000 Long” is easily as dope and this track will definitely appeal to those of you into that ‘ruff, rugged and raw’ hip-hop sound of groups like the Double XX Posse.
