Double Life were a three man group from the Bay Area who put out just a few ill tracks in the mid 90’s. The members were rappers Gennessee, L’Roneous, and DJ Raw B. Their intelligent conscious boom bap sound was mad slept on. The 12″ they released on Raw Elements Records back in 1995 with tracks ‘Revolutions’, ‘No Limitations’, and ‘Regiments’ is an incredible record, which is now something of a collectors item. After Double Life Gennessee went on to form another short lived group called Street Reportas with Bazooka Joe Gotti. He then went on to concentrate more on the business and production side of the industry, producing for the likes of Mac Dre, Paul Wall, Frankie J, and One Block Radius, and setting up his own label Noble House Records. He is still involved in music today, particularly the Bay Area’s hyphy sound. L’Roneous also forged a decent career in hip hop post Double Life. He has now released four solo albums has worked with a number of well respected figures on the West Coast underground scene, and continues to make music to this day.
