n their earliest days (think 1995’s gritty, spine-tingling Mystic Stylez), Three 6 Mafia were known as some of the pioneers of a style of rap called horrorcore. Although the genre went on to spawn the entire, endlessly regrettable culture of Juggalos, horrorcore remains a genre largely untapped by most hip-hop entities. DJ Paul and his remaining posse, now going by Da Mafia 6ix, seem to be revisiting his former group’s pre-Oscar-winning era with their new tape Hear Sum Evil.
