People Under The Stairs – American Men Vol. 1 EP (CD) (2001) (FLAC + 320 kbps)

This appears to be a compilation put out by the People Under the Stairs on their own record label, although it’s been difficult finding out any more information about the album. It’s composed of approximately 60 minutes of previously unreleased material in typical PUTS fashion: tight jazzy beats littered with classic samples. Unlike some of the duo’s other work, there seems to be some keyboard/synthesizer used in the production. Lyrically, the duo remains on point with an often humorous and laid-back approach on the mic, frequently sounding almost old school in the style of delivery. Not as inspiring, creative, or complete as their first two records, but that’s to be expected in a compilation effort. Fellow rappers Murs, Scarub, Sam Spade, and a few others also make welcome appearances.
