Utah based rapper Malev Da Shinobi and Cologne based beatmaker Mr. Käfer joined forces to work on their first collaborative album „Mind Blade“.

The project goes way back to a time, when this specific beat and rap scene mainly flourished on soundcloud and bandcamp where Mr. Käfer and Malev Da Shinobi connected to work on this unique project over the years.

The global pandemic served as an abrasive filter for the project forcing only the correct elements through as it was tempered to completion over many days and nights. Some of the files themselves even being successfully recovered from a hard drive failure! So much has come since the beginning and the end of this project, both Malev and Käfer have transformed as people and artist during the process. A unique combination of a nostalgic feel from Mr. Käfer and a unique vocal approach from Malev lend a fresh sound which is true to it’s hip hop origins, poetry and spoken word. The project is a simple one. Representing a sound aesthetic of hip hop’s golden era combined with jazzy, atmospheric elements and vocals that stand out through their stories and unique and melodic essence.
