The Frek Sho – Patience EP (Promo Vinyl) (1996) (320 kbps)
Frek Sho is a hip-hop crew from Winnipeg, Canada. Including the members Sunil Bector, Ismaila Alfa, Gallivanting Spoof, Micill Shazzam, Gruf tha Druid and Gumball.
Frek Sho (fo-knet-ih-kall-ee known as freak show) is a collective of hip-hoppers of the most unlikely origin – a culturally diverse group with members who are Nigerian, Italian, Ukrainian, Indian, Trinidadian, Metis, Portuguese, African American, Icelandic, French and Filipino. They all found each other in 1994 in, of all places, Winnipeg. There were originally two groups, Twisted Spirits (comprised of Gruf tha Druid, Gallivanting Spoof & Ismaila Alfa) and Frek Sho (Sunil Bector, Micill Shazzam & Gumball). They joined forces and decided to stick with the Frek Sho tag.
They soon realized they had more than just a way for a group of friends to make a mental escape from the cold winters – they had a winning sound. Shortly after forming the group, they flew to Vancouver to lay down the hammer on an unsuspecting crowd and fellow competitors at Vancouver’s 1994 Sound Wars Battle. The boys from the ’Peg took home second place. From there on it was time to work harder. By 1995 they were playing right beside some of the country’s biggest stars with an opening spot on the Rapcity Hip-Hop Explosion, Canada’s first official sponsored hip-hop tour featuring the Rascalz, K-OS and Ghetto Concept. Since then they’ve crisscrossed Canada on four national tours, played gigs in San Diego and opened for some of their home town’s largest concerts, including Pharcyde.
